Pelikan M600 Fountain Pen - Souverän - Art Collection #3 - Georg Tippel - Special Edition
The Pelikan Souverän® M600 Art Collection Georg Tippel is the third chapter of Pelikan’s Art Collection, a series that transforms historic masterpieces of graphic art into exceptional writing instruments. Inspired by the iconic Grundfarben poster from 1899, created by Georg Tippel for one of Pelikan’s earliest advertising competitions, this edition reinterprets a defining work from Pelikan’s visual heritage into a refined expression of art, history, and craftsmanship.
The star of this edition is the pen barrel. Reimagining the flowing cloud formations from the original artwork, the design unfolds as an abstract, rhythmic pattern across the surface. Crafted using Pelikan’s Aurora process, it begins with finely engraved guilloché structures beneath multiple layers of lacquer, creating luminous depth and a subtle shimmering effect as light moves across the pen. Warm, semi-transparent brown resin components frame the motif, seamlessly connecting heritage with modern craftsmanship.
At the heart of Tippel’s Grundfarben lies the iconic pelican, depicted as a nurturing parent—an enduring symbol of care, responsibility, and trust. The Souverän M600 Georg Tippel brings this legacy into the present with Pelikan’s renowned technical precision, featuring a piston-filling system, a two-tone 14K bi-color gold nib, and 24K gold-plated trims with the signature Pelikan clip. Presented in a book-style package with a miniature reproduction of the historic poster, this edition unites art and writing in a refined, collectible form.

About Pelikan:
Pelikan is a Germany company founded in 1838. The beginnings of the Pelikan Company trace back to the chemist Carl Hornemann, who made his customers an offer for oil paints, watercolors, and “farbige Dinten” (colored inks). These items formed the foundation of the brand's manufacturing line, including most notably the 4001 ink, which is still sold around the world to this day. Pelikan is recognized for their early integration of piston mechanisms into fountain pens, as well as the numbered naming system for their fountain pens such as the M200, M400, M600, M800, and M1000 series.
