Hobonichi Original Cover 2027 - Arts&Science: Wax Coating Kip - A6

The quality is super nice; it is glossy and feels premium in the hand. The slip-in clasp is easy to use and looks really clean. It is so dark brown it's almost black.

But it does NOT fit a HON techo. I have bought HONs for years and put them in a variety of cases with zero compatibility issues, but this case has zero wiggle room. It is exactly cut to size for the standard paper cover techo and doesn't have a spare millimeter anywhere. The HON can't fit in the sleeve for the cover as the slight lip around it makes it too big.

Unfortunate for a cover this expensive. I don't see it clarified anywhere on any of Hobonichi's listings, so I definitely don't blame Yoseka. The Hobonichi website lists compatible planners but it can be interpreted as just listing the standard A6 options so you don't mix it up with A5, and if you don't shop there first you never see it.

But my dreams of pairing the gorgeous V&A A6 HON with this cover are dashed as they're completely incompatible. This is the first time I've ever experienced this with any Hobonichi covers, so I'm posting it here as this thing is an expensive mistake to make if that was your plan. Fortunately I have many A6 notebooks I can use with this gorgeous cover, but I do really think a few extra millimeters so that the HON and other notebooks could fit would be a better design. At this price point, that feels like either a flaw or something Hobonichi should clarify in their item description, explicitly, as it's not common behavior for Hobonichi covers.
